Well, I mean he was too busy to actually, you know, vote for the past six months while campaigning, so why should he be capable of campaigning while he's voting?
i am walking (and simulataneously chewing) proof that multi-tasking can ruin any attempts made toward becoming an acceptably sociable person. maybe if i made 'socializing' one of the activities I try to multi-task i could consider myself a hugely productive success. if a multi-tasker falls down in a forest, would anyone know how many things they were doing at that very moment?
im also adding 'stop to smell the roses' to my list of tasks to coordinate.
and yes i am chewing gum while typing this comment.
Does he think that he will be seen as a hero who will single-handedly save our financial crisis if he doesn't go through with the debate? Can it not be solved without him?
John McCain, Mr. Mavericky McMaverick himself, must save the day!!!
The fact that nobody who isn't in a coma has a worse attendance record in the Senate just proves that he's needed!!!
The fact that he hasn't introduced any bills to address any of these problems just shows that it's time for his plain-talkin', straight-shootin', cut the BS approach!!!
Oh, maybe he should bring Caribou Barbie along too, I'm sure she'd add a lot.
Funny, I can't believe the NY Times didn't delete this archive. The best part is the democrat response at the end. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9E06E3D6123BF932A2575AC0A9659C8B63&sec=&spon=&pagewanted=print
Anyone else tired with how much the Republican base hates modern day America and it's people? So much hatred of your own country and people can not be a good thing.
time to let the adults who can see past this debate stunt take control - Obama for President.
Obama has been in office four months...wonder what his attendance record is...especially since he has been running for office for 3 out of the 4 years...when he did vote, consistently the most liberal senator in DC...the record proves it. He can't stop campaigning for a day or a couple of days to go do his job? If I were the people of his state, I'd expect him to give a refund--I don't know many other jobs where you don't have to work, but you can continue to draw your regular salary!
I actually applaud McCain for backing away from his campaign for a moment to go do his job. Yes, perhaps he's a bit superfluous to the committees working the problem right now, but at least he had the guts to suspend his campaign--something I've been waiting years for presidential candidates to do. Mr. Heartsill (above) is right: since when should we allow our leaders to campaign 24/7 while they still draw a paycheck from their jobs in the Senate? Perhaps from now on running for president should mean abdicating your seat in Congress. Might make some people think twice about running.
That said, the Government needs to back off and let the American people handle this. Also, "multi-taskers anonymous": right on.
Still enjoy Indexed--I just don't agree with this one!
A doctor can juggle a number of patients, but when emergency surgery is needed, everything else has to be pushed aside and rescheduled until the job gets done.
McCain is on record as trying to fix the problem three years ago before it swelled to what it is.
His efforts were blocked. Since I don't have any roll call votes in front of me, I can't say whether it was because of Democrat filibuster or because he didn't have the support of his own party. But he did address it.
Yeah, McCain could have made an impact by throwing all his effort into writing and passing a good bill, but this "hiatus" is too late, and its not really a full suspension anyway (i.e. his campaign is still mostly active).
This site is a little project that lets me make fun of some things and sense of others.
I use it to think a little more relationally without resorting to doing actual math.

Same reason my dad never turns on the radio when he's in the car with someone: promotes conversation.

At least by managing those two at once he's one step ahead of Dubya.
hahaha i love it.
And there's all those pesky make-up people to deal with as well!
Hilarious. I guess every generation gets their own Gerald Ford.
Wow! Spot on. I love the blog. Keep up the great work.

@ dustin: Obama is not much better voting "present" for most of his career.
I don't know why you all think this is funny. You're scoring political points against someone you think is dumber than you.
It's 6:20pm on 9.25.08
There is no deal in Washington. Credit markets are drying up and a catastrophe is at hand.
You're about to lose everything you think you own.
Wise up, fools.
What a treat to find this blog.
OMGoodness! You mean it's 6:20 and they still haven't given all those bankers/investors a get out of jail free card, yet!
Whatever shall we do!
This isn't funny at all!!!

A friend just turned-me-on-to your INDEXED blog. --
Very nice.
I scrolled-down through the "Labels" archive, and found three entries for "virginity."
Once there, I found this little gem: "Denial" (August 8, 2006).
Have you ever heard the mermaids singing, each to each?
and the 'One' says - "hey guys, if I can of any help let me know..." The response - no thanks B-O. We don't need your services

I hope you chumps are still laughing it up when Obama walks off with half of your paychecks...
Rather that than Paulson walking off with 3 quarters.
So true.

The Day after.
That McCain guy looked TIRED.
