Huh? When the Joneses have more than you, you are a failure? Who cares about the Joneses? Who cares about how much stuff anybody has? The person who dies with the most toys wins? I don't get it. Are you being ironic? Sorry if I'm dense. Please explain.

The answer to you question lies in the phrase "keeping up with the Joneses". Try Wikipedia.

Keeping up with the Joneses.

(Hm. I wonder if we'll ever get a chart diagramming something with 'reliance on WikiPedia.')

XKCD had a good one on The Problem with Wikipedia recently.

Ah, the prisoner's dilemma... Always good to see some game theory.

I know what "Keeping up with the Joneses" means. What I was trying to understand was why Jessica would post a diagram illustrating it, thereby seemingly advocating that "Keeping up with the Joneses" has any practical value in life or is something worth doing.

So, Jessica? Why the diagram?

I don't claim to speak for her or anything, but in my opinion: Just because she did a comic on something doesn't insinuate (to me) that she advocates that thing or thinks it valid. I think it's odd to blast an artist for a joke. Maybe it was just that; a joke.

Got it. Thanks for putting me straight. Sorry if I was coming off as blasting.

I guess I didn't get the joke, and thus the joke's on me.
