Unfortunately there are still cultures which practice gender-based discrimination. Luckily I'm not in one of those countries!

Girls aren't as smart as you don't think they are.

Maybe Alex meant:

Girls aren't as smart as you don't think they aren't?

Or maybe I mean that.

P.S. Constantin, I guarantee that you are in one of those countries! I would be curious to hear about a country that did not practice gender-based discrimination. On Earth, please. My travel budget is limited.

Arse, I agree.. gender based disc. is so deep that we don't notice it anymore.. which is sad.

The percentage of females (in America) earning undergraduate degrees has outpaced males for the first time in history, thus proving that women are better than men, and when barriers to education are removed, women succeed in spades

too bad woman still make about 73 cents for every dollar that men make, on average, in every field for the same work.

it's only proving that men are now being discriminated because of their gender, which ist sad too, but won't last forever. we will see, i think equality is possible, at least if there are not too many people out there who are frustrated and think they are better than the others ;-)

so to say, for the other side :
"they just want to play around and kick each other" -> why care for them ? -> they don't succeed -> they just want to play around and kick each other -> and so on

arse poetica: "Constantin, I guarantee that you are in one of those countries!":
Hey! At least boys and girls study at the same schools here in Moldova. When I said "gender-based discrimination" I meant governments that openly admit that they consider male citizens "superior" or something and put girls in different schools (or no school at all). Afghanistan anybody?
Then again, I'm a boy so I guess I can't say ;)

no at all !! take me for example!!

Ah, the Taliban cycle.....

I think in America the cycle is acually more like this:
A: Girls are really smart.
B: But boys are better at sports.
C: So let send them to college to become sucessful.

As for men currently being discriminated against, I don't know if that's true. However, if it is, it leads me to suspect that discrimination functions like a dampened oscillator (going back and forth and gradually decreasing in amplitude until it finally diminishes to an unnoticable level).

Of course girls should go to college! How else am I going to meet any?

More seriously, I don't believe that men are being discriminated against. There are women who see the success of their own gender when discrimination is lessened and conclude "Men suck", and that's really just as stupid, but not as harmful, because they could never do anything about it.

to anonymous... "The percentage of females (in America) earning undergraduate degrees has outpaced males for the first time in history" this may be true, but sadly you need to consider the amount of those women that go on to a career, or just end up with an Mrs.
