Last time I tried to pick up newspaper print with silly putty it didn't work. :( I guess they don't print newspapers with the same kind of ink these days.

@David - It seems more likely that silly putty has changed. There's always a way to make it less toxic, easier to get out of carpet, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the formula at least once a year.

I know that is how WE read the newspaper as kids- through the reverse and hazy lenses of silly putty.

I was relieved when I found out I wasn't dyslexic after all these years. These have been the best two weeks of my life frankly- all thanks to a mother with a warped sense of humor, and a putty known as "silly."

Thanks so much silly putty!

Dave is correct, they have changed the ink formulas in the last 15-20 years (depending on locality) to a non-petroleum based ink (usually soy oil based) and a "cold" printing process which ensures that the ink rubs off less.

The basic formula for silly putty hasn't changed since 1943, although they have come up with new colors.

True enough, but they'll get it backwards. :)

@anthony
True enough, but they'll get it backwards.

Does it make sense, then?

Awesome. XD If only it worked on computer screens...

I don't want my kids reading newspapers. I tell my husband he can't leave his Newsweek on the dining room table in their eyesight.

(They're still little)
