Anonymous is kinda correct, the X-axis is the independent variable that you can control, in this case - how much you say. Hence influencing your respect :)
Reminds me of advice from my father: "Never argue with an idiot in public -- people may have a hard time distinguishing you."
This is only partially true. I'm quiet, and because of this some people think I'm stuck up or stupid. I've talked to other quiet girls and they say the same thing. If I were a man I'd be thought of as the "strong silent type". But no, not if you're a woman.
