i think that technically, gas is only higher in temp when under pressure.

Megan, it's hard to say. He is leaving out volume. Certainly the graph describes an unusual set of circumstances. The combined gas law states that pressure * volume / temperature = (a constant). Increasing the temperatature will increase the pressure, so for us to see something like what he is drawing volume must be increasing a lot, or he is allowing some sort of heat transfer.
