I have had sushi at a Japanese restaurant in Lincoln and it was quite as good as what I've had from the same type of place in South Carolina. That being said, imitation crab is cooked fish and is sold in grocery stores prepackaged with the meats. It keeps fresh a good while.
I'm an Angelino and I've mentioned this before to midwesterners. For some reason they get really touchy if I insinuate that my fish are fresher than their fish.
This site is a little project that lets me make fun of some things and sense of others.
I use it to think a little more relationally without resorting to doing actual math.

I think it's inverted.
I think you'd have a lot more risk ordering a rainbow roll in Nebraska - more fish varieties to get sick from =)
Doesn't California roll generally come without fish? California roll may be the only sushiesque thing I would order in Nebraska.
So very true!
Iowa City sushi rocks!
Hilarious, so very true, and by the way... the california rolls in Texas aren't bad.
I love this site - brilliant. I visit often...
one of the rules i live by.
david: California rolls usually have imitation crab stick in them, but that's the only piece of "meat" in them, at least, from my experience.
Correct. California roll only has Avacado, Cucumber, and Imitation Crab in it. Of course there's also the arbitrary rice and nori.
Anon: regarding the imitation crab...
Even imitation seafood follows the same rules... the "Seafood Law", or something more creative than that, perhaps.
I can't explain it... but it is true.
I am from Omaha, and love sushi. It does not get me sick, and is indeed delicious.
